The Pakistan Association of the Blind has been working since 1960 to promote the independence and autonomy of fully and partially visually impaired folk. Through multiple programs, workshops and activities, we hope to improve their quality of life and equip them with skills that can help them in their careers and daily lives.
We celebrated the White Cane Safety Day (The International Day for the Blind) on October 14th, 2019, carrying out campaigns for awareness and training people on how to use these canes for better movement and guidance.
Throughout the year, we also host sporting events and training for young children and adults, who get a chance to compete and hone their athletic abilities. For example, earlier in 2019, we hosted the PAB Sindh Super League at Larkana We strongly believe that having access to extra-curricular activities is essential for every individual’s wellbeing; empowering the visually impaired to participate in these activities enables them to improve their motor skills, focus, physical health and more.
Those affiliated with our organization are given the unique opportunity to explore their hidden talents and hone their skills through special training. For example, one of our students, Yashroon, was able to learn the harmonium under the supervision of her music teacher, Mr. Saleem Qureshi.
There is no reason to be held back from any passion individuals have and we want to do our best to help visually impaired people know that they can do anything they set their hearts to!
